On Thursday, December 17, 2015, Vahan and Anoush Chamlian first grade students paid a visit to the Prelacy where they had a Christmas lesson from H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and conveyed New Year and Christmas well wishes to His Eminence. The Prelate was joined by Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian. The students were accompanied by Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian, Vice-Principal Mrs. Rita Kaprielian, teachers, and parents.
The visit began at the “St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen” Chapel with the Lord’s Prayer recited by the students and a Christmas hymn sung by the Prelate and Fr. Nareg. His Eminence taught the students a few lines from the hymn, which they then sang along with their parents. The visit continued at the “Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian” Hall, where the students presented a festive Christmas program.
On behalf of the administration and faculty, Mrs. Garin Chookadarian delivered remarks explaining the nature of the visit and highlighting the four-decade long mission of Chamlian School.
Through a slideshow the Prelate explained the story of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Students chimed in with what they had learned at school about the Birth of Christ, the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and the good shepherds and magi following the bright star to witness the Baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes in the manger. The Prelate commended the students on their knowledge and urged them to share what they have learned with their peers. The students then sang songs and recited poetry about their school and Christmas.
At the conclusion of the program His Eminence once again conveyed his commendation to the students, teachers, and parents, thanked them for their well wishes, conveyed his New Year blessings and Christmas tidings to all, and gifted prayer card mementos. The students presented gift baskets to the Prelate, and the visit concluded with the benediction by His Eminence.
