A.R.S. “Anahid” Chapter Celebrates 60th Anniversary

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the A.R.S. “Anahid” Chapter of the West San Fernando Valley celebrated its 60th anniversary with a gala banquet held at “Avedissian” Hall. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and conveyed his message. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian. In attendance were members of the A.R.S. Central and Regional Executives, members of local chapters, representatives of Holy Martyrs Church, Ferrahian School, and sister organizations, sponsors, and friends.

The program began with the anthems, followed by welcoming remarks by Mrs. Arousiag Melkonian. Fr. Razmig delivered the invocation. Proclamations were presented by Congressman Brad Sherman, Assembly member Jesse Gabriel, and City Council member Paul Koretz. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Ani Hovannisian-Kevorkian. The cultural program featured performances by Saturday School students and Hamazkayin Ani Dance Company. The chapter honored members with 60+ years of service. On behalf of the Regional Executive, Chairlady Mrs. Silva Poladian delivered congratulatory remarks. The Prelate delivered his message and presented a certificate of blessing and commendation.

The Prelate began his message with a reference to the A.R.S. hymn which lauds members for their oath to carrying out a sacred mission with a golden heart. He blessed the memory of past members and praised the Chapter’s current members and all A.R.S. members for their sacrificial service.

In the certificate of blessing and commendation, the Prelate commended “Anahid” Chapter’s great contribution to the San Fernando Valley Armenian community over the past sixty years, the valuable services it provides locally and to our compatriots in Armenia, Artsakh, and Javakhk. His Eminence also commended the Chapter’s support of Holy Martyrs Church and Ferrahian, Cabayan, and Pilavjian Schools from the early days of their establishment to the present, their dedication to the Armenian instruction and education of our youth in public schools through their Saturday School, and their commitment to preserving and fostering our culture and heritage through various endeavors.

The official program concluded with a candle-lighting ceremony and cake-cutting. The evening continued with musical entertainment.
