ARS Hollywood “Mayr” Chapter’s 100th Anniversary Banquet

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, a banquet celebrating the 100th anniversary of the ARS Hollywood “Mayr” Chapter and 50th anniversary of the Saturday School was held at De Luxe Banquet Hall in Burbank. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended and delivered his message. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian. Members of the ARS Central Executive, Regional Executive, and of various chapters, as well as sponsors and supporters were among the guests in attendance.

The program began with opening remarks by Mrs. Mayda Chahinian, who served as the evening’ MC.

In his congratulatory message, the Prelate commended the humanitarian, educational, and national service of the chapter’s members who faithfully continue the vision and legacy of the founders. His Eminence stated that the Armenian community of Hollywood has in many ways been a pioneer in the Western U.S.; the area served as the home of the Western Prelacy for many years, it houses St. Garabed mother church, the first Homenetmen chapter to be established in the region, “Karekin Njteh” Gomideh and a number of other organizations. The Prelate blessed all the members of the ARS, and wished them all continues successes in their worthy mission.

Mrs. Vartouhi Tavoukjian delivered remarks on behalf of the “Mayr” Chapter and Mrs. Silva Poladian on behalf of the ARS Regional Executive. Proclamation were presented by elected officials, former Chairladies were recognized for their service, and a candle-lighting ceremony and cake-cutting took place. The cultural program featured performances by the Hamazkayin Nairi Dance Group.
