Grape Blessing Ceremony at North County Correctional Facility

On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, by the arrangement of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, a special and unprecedented service in celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God was held at North County Correctional Facility in Castaic led by Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian, Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, and Chaplain Rafi Garabedian. Glendale Council member Vrej Agajanian joined in the visit.

Sergeant Juan Martinez greeted the delegation and highly commended the Western Prelacy’s commitment to the spiritual nourishment of inmates.

The service began with the Lord’s Prayer. Introductions were made by Chaplain Rafi, who expressed thanks to the Prelate for his guidance and support and conveyed the blessings of His Eminence to the inmates. The grape blessing ceremony followed. Councilmember Agajanian delivered his remarks and conveyed his best wishes. Chaplain Rafi explained and read the confession, after which the inmates received Holy Communion. Afterward, the inmates received copies of the prayer book “I confess with faith” recently published by the Western Prelacy.
