Prelate of Aleppo Visits Los Angeles

On Monday, December 11, 2017, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, returned from Lebanon after participating in the Catholicosate of Cilicia General Assembly. He was joined by H.E. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of Aleppo, who by the invitation of the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund (SARF) arrived in Los Angeles to take part in events and meetings relating to the recovery and rebuilding of the Armenian community of Syria.

On Tuesday, December 12, Archbishop Sarkissian participated in the Prelacy’s Executive Council meeting. On Wednesday, December 13, he attended SARF’s fundraising dinner at Chevy Chase Country Club, and on the evening of Friday, December 15, he participated in a public gathering organized by SARF during which he spoke on the current situation of the Armenian community in Syria.

The Prelate and Archbishop Sarkissian also visited Prelacy Schools and held meetings with community leaders.

By the invitation of the Prelate, on Sunday, December 17, Archbishop Sarkissian celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale.
