Prelate Presides over Unveiling of the “Anita Torosian Literacy and Resource Center” at Chamlian School

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, Vahan and Anoush Chamlian School family members gathered for the unveiling of the “Anita Torosian Literacy and Resource Center.” H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over the ceremony and delivered his message. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Ardak Demirjian.

The program began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Raffi Hamparian, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. Remarks were subsequently delivered by School Board member and Committee Chair Mr. Artin Ghazarian, Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian, and School Board Chair Mr. Armen Abrahamian. The Prelate joined the administration and Board members in presenting plaques to Mr. Ghazarian and to Anita’s husband Mr. Henrik Hakoupian.

Next, the Prelate delivered his message. “It has been over two years since Anita departed this life. She is no longer in our midst physically, but her spirit remains very much alive. Her rich legacy as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, and as an esteemed and inspiring educator lives on and will live on forevermore through all the lives she touched and now through this center dedicated in her memory by her beloved husband Henrik. ‘When from the world my memory fades away, that is the time when I indeed shall die.’ These moving words by one of our renowned poets, Bedros Tourian is fitting for today’s ceremony. All of you here can affirm that Anita’s memory will not fade away. In life she dedicated herself to educating, enriching, and enlightening young minds. And in death, through this center, countless generations will continue to be enlightened through the resources offered at this state-of-the-art facility,” said the Prelate. In conclusion, His Eminence conveyed his blessings to Henrik and his daughter, stating, “May this center, through which Anita’s bright light will continue to shine, be a source of comfort and consolation for you all.” He congratulated and commended also the Chamlian School family for their faithful service to the Armenian School.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony and unveiling of the plaque followed. Requiem prayers were offered for Anita’s soul. A reception followed.
