Schedule of Christmas Services

On Sunday, January 6, 2019, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the glorious Birth and Revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. The celebration will begin on Saturday, January 5, Christmas Eve, with Divine Liturgy followed by the Jrakalooyts service (lighting of candles). On Sunday, January 6, Divine Liturgy will be celebrated, during which water will be blessed symbolizing the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On Saturday, January 5th, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will conduct Christmas Eve service and deliver his message at Holy Cross Cathedral in Montebello. H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, will conduct Christmas Eve service and deliver his message at the Crescenta Valley Church.

On Sunday, January 6, the Prelate will celebrate Christmas Divine Liturgy and deliver his message at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino. H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, will celebrate Christmas Divine Liturgy and deliver his message at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale.

In the evening, at 6:00 p.m., the traditional “Prelate’s New Year and Christmas Dinner” will take place at Holy Cross Cathedral’s “Bagramian” Hall in Montebello.

On Monday, January 7, Merelots, clergy members will gather at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills “Hall of Liberty” and Forest Lawn Glendale “Church of the Recessional” for requiem services in memory of all departed loved ones. The Prelate will preside over the service at Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn. The service begins at 10:00 a.m.

Finally, on Tuesday, January 8, the Prelate, accompanied by clergy members, will conduct the blessing of water at Glendale Memorial Hospital. The service will take place in the hospital lobby and begins at 12:30 p.m.
