St. Sarkis Church of Pasadena Presents Second Annual Christmas Concert

On Friday, December 21, 2018, the second annual Christmas concert organized by the Pastor and Board of Trustees of St. Sarkis Church of Pasadena was held at the Church, presided by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate. The program was presented by the Church choir, with Choirmaster Deacon Yervant Keshishian as conductor. This year, Sunday School students participated in the program, joining in a couple of songs.

Among the faithful in attendance were Executive Council member Mr. Avo Kechichian, St. Sarkis Church benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Sarkis and Suzan Kitsinian, Parish Delegates, Board and Ladies Guild members, and representatives of sister organizations.

The program began with welcoming remarks by Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, who on behalf of the parish family greeted the Prelate and guests, commended the hard work and efforts of Deacon Yervant and the choir, and conveyed his New Year and Christmas well wishes to all.

The setlist featured Christmas hymns and carols in Armenian and various languages, combined with Gospel readings recounting the annunciation to the Virgin Mary until the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Prelate delivered the closing message. He commended the Choirmaster and choir for bringing joy and warmth to our hearts through their beautiful performance celebrating the Birth and Revelation of our Lord. His Eminence noted that we are in the season of Advent, the fifty days leading to Christmas which we must utilize to prepare ourselves to fully comprehend and relive the great and wondrous mystery which was revealed by the Birth of Christ with renewed spirits and clean hearts. “The Birth of Jesus was an expression of God’s faithfulness toward man. Let us express our faithfulness to God through our obedience to Him and His commandments, and through our love and faithfulness to our fellow man. As we exchange gifts to one another, let us never forget that the greatest gift has already been given to us, and it has been given to us freely. With utmost gratitude let us accept and treasure the gift of the Lord in our lives, let us always remember the purpose of the incarnation, and let us keep the spirit of Christmas alive throughout the year and spread His love and warmth to those around us,” concluded the Prelate.

The program closed with the benediction by the Prelate and the collective singing of Cilicia. Guest thereafter enjoyed a reception at “Andonian” Hall.
