The Prelate Met with the Supervisors and Teachers of the Prelacy Sunday Schools

On Thursday, March 11, 2021, under the auspices of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, a meeting of the Supervisors and teachers of the Prelacy Sunday Schools took place at the Prelacy’s “Dikran and Zarouhi Der Ghazarian” hall.

The meeting began with a short vigil service, presided by the Prelate, with the participation of the clergy and the faithful. The Prelate first greeted those present, and then addressed the teaching staff, saying; “It is your duty to introduce Jesus to the children and guide them to Jesus, with the language that the children will understand.” The Prelate emphasized that teachers should make the student’s life easier in the classroom, he urged them to always remain in good cheer and have a positive attitude. During this meeting, the Prelate appointed Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian as the Director of the Sunday schools, Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian as the Secretary of the Sunday Schools, and Mr. Hagop Tchaghatsbanian and Mr. Raffi Torossian as the Co-chairs of the Sunday School Supervisory body.

Following the Prelate’s remarks, the teachers sang the Sunday School anthem, which was followed by welcoming remarks made by Co-Chairs Mr. Hagop Tchaghatsbanian and Mr. Raffi Torossian. Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian delivered his remarks and praised the Prelate for his support towards the revitalization of the Prelacy Sunday Schools. He then presented a short summary of the various tools the teachers should use during their lessons.

During the meeting, it was proposed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian Apostolic Church Sunday Schools next May, during which graduating students will receive their certificates and teachers with extensive years of service will receive an award.

The meeting ended with the Prelate’s closing remarks. He once again stressed the importance of the role played by Sunday schools and the mission they have undertaken on the path of religious and national upbringing of the children, emphasizing that teachers should pay the utmost care for the upbringing of the Sunday School students. At the end of the meeting, those present sang “Mesrop Mashtots,” followed by the Prelate’s benediction.
