PRELATE TO CELEBRATE DIVINE LITURGY AND CONDUCT THE BLESSING OF MADAGH ON THE NAME DAY OF ST. SARKIS CHURCH OF PASADENA

SoorpSarkisImageOn Saturday, February 11, 2017, the Armenian Apostolic Church will commemorate the Feast of St. Sarkis the Commander, who in the 4th century was martyred for our faith alongside his son Mardiros and fourteen soldiers. The Feast marks the name-day celebration of St. Sarkis Church of Pasadena.

Thus, on Sunday, February 12, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will celebrate Divine Liturgy, deliver the sermon, and conduct the blessing of madagh at St. Sarkis Church.

At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, requiem prayers will be offered for the souls of the first parish pastor, Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Antreassian, Board of Trustees members, Delegates, Ladies Guild members, and all departed church servants.

Eve of the Feast service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11.

EVENING SERVICE AND LIGHTING OF BONFIRE ON THE FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF OUR LORD TO THE TEMPLE

DyarnentarachImageOn Tuesday, February 14, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord to the Temple.

The Feast will be celebrated in Prelacy Churches with evening service and the lighting of the traditional bonfire on Monday, February 13. Parents are invited to attend and take the opportunity to present their children for blessing before the altar.

The Prelate will preside over the service at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale. In keeping with tradition, among the faithful will be Homenetmen leadership, members, and scouts. The service begins at 6:30.

Afterward, clergy and faithful will gather in the church courtyard for the lighting of the bonfire and the singing of patriotic and national songs.

Later on, the Prelate, clergy, and Homenetmen members will gather at “Armenak Der Bedrossian” Hall for a dinner reception hosted by the parish Board of Trustees.
