“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2)

PhilippinesTyphoonOne week after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines, claiming thousands of lives and leaving countless more injured and displaced, millions of people are in desperate need of essential aid such as food, water, shelter, clothing, and medicine.

Our heart and prayers go out to the people of the Philippines who are struggling to get back on their feet and begin the painstaking process of rebuilding their lives.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, has instructed all Prelacy Churches to offer Der Voghormya (Lord have mercy) prayers on Sunday, November 17 for the victims and survivors of this disaster.

We urge our faithful to join us in prayer and to assist in the relief efforts by contributing to disaster relief organizations such as the American Red Cross or other local charities.  Any support, large or small, can make a real difference in saving and rebuilding lives.

PRELATE ATTENDS BENEFIT EVENT
IN SUPPORT OF ARTSAKH

ArtsakhArtEventOn Thursday, November 14, the Artsakh Development Group (ADG) hosted an art and music benefit at JNA Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica.

The Prelate and nearly 130 guests attended the event in support of Artsakh’s cultural and economic development.             ADG is partnering with architect Lilly Djaniants, a Columbia University-trained architect, to raise awareness about the situation in Artsakh by supporting a strategic plan for a large-scale architectural development project to spur cultural tourism and educational research there. Djaniants, who has the support of the Prime Ministers of both Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh Republic, aims to build a state-of-the-art center for research and development in the social sciences and arts in Shushi. With this as the ultimate goal, Djaniants is currently working on smaller-scale tourism projects — like the development of the Tak Jur hot springs in Karvajar into a tourism destination — to pave the way for larger development plans.

ADG was pleased to announce a $5,000 donation from the Ignatius Foundation in support of its goals at the event, in addition to several other major private gifts.

As a former student himself, the Prelate was pleased that the Women’s Auxiliary was being recognized for their contributions, stating, “The success of Haigazian University as a prominent institute for higher learning for over five decades speaks volumes about the commitment of all those involved in the life of the University.  Among them is the Women’s Auxiliary, whose members are being worthily honored this evening for their dedicated service.”  The message concluded with the Prelate conveying his blessings to all those who serve for the progress of the University.
