Prelate Congratulates Election of General Michel Aoun as President of Lebanon

Following the election of General Michel Aoun as the new President of Lebanon on Monday, October 31, 2016, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, sent a congratulatory letter to Consul General Johnny Ibrahim on behalf of the Western Prelacy family, the Armenian-American community, and the Lebanese-Armenian community in particular.

“We thank God that a ray of hope has shined upon Lebanon, ending 2 ½ years of stalemate, and we are confident that brighter and better days await Lebanon with a capable, experienced, and strong leader occupying the country’s highest office, the greatest symbol of sovereignty and democracy. We pray that General Aoun will lead the country with honesty and integrity and that all factions will work together in the spirit of harmony and brotherly love for the common good, the peace, stability, and prosperity of Lebanon,” wrote the Prelate, and prayed for Almighty God to bless, safeguard, and keep in peace the leadership, armed forces, and citizens of our beloved Lebanon.
