On Saturday, December 13, 2014, Hamazkayin Ani Dance celebrated its 40th anniversary with a spectacular performance held at the John Waye Performing Arts Center of Glendale High School. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended the celebration and on behalf of His Holiness Aram I presented “St. Mesrob Mashdots” medals to artistic directors Yeghia Hasholian and Suzy Barseghian-Tarpinian. His Eminence was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian.
At the conclusion of the program the Prelate was invited to the stage to convey his message. His Eminence congratulated and commended the directors, past and present instructors, dancers, and all those who work behind the scenes to present audiences with impressive performances for the past forty years. Having been acquainted with the artistic directors for many years, the Prelate gave personal testimony of their commitment to the preservation and celebration of our cultural identity. His Eminence then announced that in response to his request, His Holiness Aram I was bestowing the “St. Mesrob Mashdots” medal upon the directors in recognition of their lifelong service, and proceeded to present the honorees with the Pontifical Encyclical and insignias. On behalf of the Prelacy, His Eminence conferred a letter of blessing to costume designer Jane Hasholian for her contributions.
