Special Viewing of the Zeytun Gospels Canon Tables at the Getty Museum


By the invitation of Dr. Elizabeth Morrison, Senior Curator of Manuscripts at the Getty Museum, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, the Honorable Sergey Sarkisov, Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, Dr. Hayk Demoyan, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan, and Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian, Executive Council Chair, visited the Getty Museum for a special viewing of the Canon Tables from the Zeytun Gospels, the 13th century work by famed Armenian manuscript illuminator Toros Roslin.

Mr. John Giurini, Assistant Director for Museum Communications and Public Affairs, participated in the visit.

The guests were also hosted to lunch by Getty Museum administrators, during which various issues were discussed including Armenian Culture Month activities, Armenian-American community issues, and collaborative efforts.

The Prelate gifted the book “The Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia: History, Treasures, Mission” to the Museum.

The Canon Tables are currently on view at the Getty Museum in honor of Armenian Culture Month, and will be up until January 1, 2017. We invite our community to take this opportunity to personally view the beautiful Canon Tables.
