On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, presided over a meeting at the Western Prelacy in regards to the new Armenian Apostolic Church of Crescenta Valley. In attendance were benefactors of the new church; Mr. & Mrs. Varant and Hoori Melkonian, Executive Council Chair Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian, Vice-Chair Mr. Meher Der Ohanessian, Religious Council representative Archpriest Fr. Viken Vassilian, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Crescenta Valley Church Mr. Dikran Der Sarkissian. Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, Pastor of the Church was absent during the meeting.
As the commission for the rearrangement of the new Armenian Apostolic Church, they held their first meeting and thoughtfully examined the possibilities of “Armenianizing” and modernizing the present structure and turning it into a spiritual gem within our lives. It was decided to form sub-committees to achieve these goals.
The Bishop highly commended Mr. & Mrs. Varant and Hoori Melkonian’s ardent faith and dedication to Christ and the Armenian Church, stating that it is a testimony to the enthusiasm shown by the couple, in the purchase and beautification of this building, in memory of their late father Mr. Melkon Melkonian and in honor of their mother Mrs. Angel Melkonian.
We are glad to inform that under the blessing of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I. of the Holy See of Cilicia, the new Armenian Church of Crescenta Valley will be named Holy Archangels Armenian Apostolic Church of Crescenta Valley.
