ARS “Shoushi” Chapter of Las Vegas Celebrates its 20th Anniversary

On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the ARS “Shoushi” Chapter and Saturday School of Las Vegas celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding with a banquet held under the auspices of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, at Desert Willow Golf Course.  “Shoushi” Chapter Saturday School founder Verjine Koujakian was posthumously awarded for her contributions.

Given that the Prelate was in Etchmiadzin at the time participating in the Bishops’ Synod, he was represented at the event by St. Mary’s Church Pastor Rev. Fr. Vazken Atmajian.  Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian was also in attendance.

The evening began with the blessing of tables by Fr. Vazken and St. Garabed Church of Las Vegas Pastor Archpriest Fr. Avedis Torossian.

The Prelate’s letter of blessing was then read.  His Eminence commended the dedicated service of the “Shoushi” Chapter members, and also their decision to honor their late founder, Verjine Koujakian.  He also conveyed his appreciation to her children, the Yemenidjian, Fattal, and Koujakian families for their wish to honor their mother’s memory by sponsoring “Koujakian” Hall in the church complex.  In conclusion, the Prelate expressed confidence that the Las Vegas community would continue to experience great successes thanks to the service of the ARS, alongside the newly built St. Garabed Church and Cultural Center.

On Sunday morning, by the ordinance of the Prelate, Rev. Fr. Vazken Atmajian celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Garabed Church, after which requiem service was held in memory of all departed servants of the “Shoushi” Chapter.  On behalf of the Prelate, Fr. Vazken conveyed condolences to the loved ones of all the departed, and especially to the Yemenidjian, Fattal, and Koujakian families.
