Consulate General of Armenia Hosts Reception in Honor of Artsakh Delegation

On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, the Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles hosted a reception in honor of the visiting Artsakh delegation, comprised of State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh Mr. Arayik Haroutyunyan, H.E. Archbishop Barkev Martirosyan, Primate of Artsakh, and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Artsakh to the United States Mr. Robert Avetisyan.

H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, attended. He was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Vazken Atmajian. Guests in attendance included California State Senator Anthony Portantino, State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Glendale City Council members, community leaders, and Consular staff.

Deputy Consul General Valery Mkrtoumian welcomed the guests and invited the State Minister to convey his remarks. Mr. Haroutyunyan stressed the importance of this year’s Armenia Fund Telethon project to build irrigation systems in Artsakh, thanked the community leadership for their support and called for mass participation in the Telethon.

The State Minister presented a posthumous medal to Michael Minasian, Montebello community activist and founding member of the Montebello Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument, for his vast support of Armenia and Artsakh, while Archbishop Barkev Martirosyan a memento of St. Kevork. Both the medal and memento were accepted by Michael Minasian’s son Mourad.
