Divine Liturgy and Granting of the Flower Cope

On Sunday, June 19, 2022, on the occasion of the Father’s Day, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Pasadena, during which His Grace recited the Pontifical letter by H.H. Aram I., Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, granting Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan, Pastor of St. Sarkis Church, the privilege of bearing an ornamental cope.

Rev. Fr. Baltayan, Rev. Fr. Arsen Kassabian and deacons of the church accompanied the Prelate. In attendance was the representative of the Executive Council Mr. Sarkis Tatikian, delegates, benefactors and parishioners.

In his message, Bishop Donoyan praised God, who fills our lives with hope and light, strengthens us in the life of our faith, and then, referring to the feast of the day, said: “Today is Father’s Day, and we are invited to beseech God to extend His blessings upon all the fathers of our nation, and enlighten the souls of all the fathers who have departed from this world. Today is also the feast of our Heavenly Father,” inviting those present to pray for the glory, honor, and thanksgiving to God the Creator. The Prelate encouraged Fr. Baltayan and his family to remain steadfast in their faith and to continue their service to the church and community with the same vigor, for more enlightenment of the Armenian Church.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a reception was held at the “Hovhannes & Hripsime Jivalagian” Youth Center in Pasadena. Remarks were delivered by Mr. Hagop Yedalian, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mrs. Maral Shiranian, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, and the Church Pastor Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan.

Mr. Albert Tchoukadarian, a parishioner, relayed his heartfelt wishes to the Prelate on the occasion of Father’s Day, and gifted the Prelate an Episcopal ring on behalf of the Armenian Trade Union of America.

The reception was concluded by the Prelate’s remarks and benediction.
