Episcopal Divine Liturgy, Blessing of Water with Newly Consecrated Holy Muron, Blessing of the Renovated Baptismal Font at Forty Martyrs Armenian Church in Orange County

On Sunday, October 9, 2022, on the occasion of the Holy Translators, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, celebrated Divine Liturgy at Forty Martyrs Armenian Church in Orange County, where he blessed the water with the newly consecrated Holy Muron and blessed the renovated Baptismal Font. Rev. Fr. Karekin Bedourian and Archpriest Fr. Hrant Yeretsian assisted on the Altar.

In attendance were Executive Council Chair Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian and his wife, Mayor of the City of Santa Ana Mr. Vincente Sarmiento and his wife, delegates, representatives of community organizations, Principal, teachers and students of Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School.

In his remarks, Bishop Donoyan welcomed Mayor Sarmiento and the representatives of various organizations, and reflected on the day’s feast; Holy Translators. The Bishop stated; “The Holy Translators have a large impact on the life of an Armenian, because we believe that our language is one of the pillars of our existence and identity. The generation of translators trusted God and initiated the translation of the Bible into Armenian as their first task. On this day, our victors, who created the Golden Age, invite us to trust our lives and national identity to God, so that as a nation, church and culture, we can continue our march to eternity without any challenges.”

Following the Divine Liturgy, the faithful were led to the “Ghazarian” hall, where a luncheon was prepared. The students of Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School performed a short program and remarks were delivered by the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees Mr. Garbis Karamardian, Principal of Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School Ms. Ani Shahinian-Sarkissian, representative of the ARF “Armen Garo” Committee Mr. Garo Madenlian, member of the Orange County Hay Tahd Dr. Kevork Abazajian, who in his remarks expressed support of the Armenians of Orange County to the activities of Mayor Sarmiento. Mayor Sarmiento in his turn expressed his gratitude to Bishop Donoyan and to all present, affirmed his pro-Armenian commitment to the spiritual, national, educational, sports, cultural and humanitarian programs of the community.

The luncheon concluded by Bishop Donoyan welcoming the presence of Mayor Sarmiento and wished him success in his tenure as Mayor of Santa Ana.
