Eve of the Feast of the Holy Translators Celebration at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino

On the evening of Friday, October 10, 2014, Western Prelacy clergy members and faithful gathered at Holy Martyrs Church in Encino to celebrate the eve of the Feast of the Holy Translators at a service presided over by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate. Participating in the celebration were Prelate of Aleppo H.E. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, and former Prelate H.E. Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian. The stirring service featured prayers and uplifting hymns honoring the lives and contributions of the Holy Translators.

The Prelate greeted the clergy, Executive Council members, organizational representatives and faithful, and in his address to the congregation first reflected on the meaning and significance of the feast of the Holy Translators. Referring to the ongoing crisis in Syria, His Eminence noted that the Western Prelacy has contributed significantly to the relief efforts, and called upon the faithful to continue to lend their support to the Syrian-Armenian students and community. He then invited the Prelate of Aleppo to deliver his message.

Speaking on the harrowing circumstances in Syria, the Prelate asked for the prayers of the faithful, stressing that hopelessness is not an option, and stating that the Armenians in Syria persevere by drawing their strength and hope from our Christian faith.

A reception followed, during which faithful had the opportunity to converse with the visiting Prelate and to receive further information on life in Syria.
