Event Dedicated to the Catastrophe of Smyrna

On Friday, February 15, an event dedicated to the Catastrophe of Smyrna took place at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s Huffington Center in Los Angeles under the auspices of the Consulates General of Japan and Greece and organized by the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Southern California.

The event featured a lecture by Dr. Nanako Murata Sawayanagi, Professor of History at Tokyo University, on the rescue of Armenians and Greeks by a Japanese ship during the Catastrophe of Smyrna in 1922.
