Fundraising Dinner in Support of the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund


On the evening of Thursday, June 4, a fundraising dinner was held at Phoenicia Restaurant in Glendale in support of the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund and to present to the community a new project by the British charitable organization Oxfam aimed at assisting Syrian-Armenian refugees who have settled in Armenia as a result of the ongoing civil war in Syria.

The program began with invocation by clergy. Opening remarks were delivered by Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. The Prelate delivered his message and call for support. Remarks were conveyed by SARF Chair John Titizian. Mr. Raffy Ardhaljian presented details of the Oxfam program, after which Dr. Hrair Dekmejian provided an analysis of the crisis in the Middle East as it relates to the Armenian people. SARF Vice-Chair Raffi Kendirjian introduced the project #AleppoStrong, and the program concluded with closing remarks by Fr. Vicken. Executive Council members attended the event. The evening also featured cultural performances by Sossi and Salpi Kerkonian.
