Holy Tuesday Commemoration

On the evening of Tuesday, April 3, 2012 the commemoration of Holy Tuesday took place in Prelacy Churches. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, conducted services at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale and delivered the sermon on the Parable of the Ten Maidens.

Speaking on the meaning of the Parable of the Ten Maidens, the Prelate noted that the message is an invitation for awakening, for preparing ourselves for the second coming of Christ, stating that if we don’t prepare ourselves, no one can take that step for us on our behalf. Of the ten, the five wise maidens slept peacefully as they waited for the delayed bridegroom because they had peace of mind knowing they had enough oil to last them until his arrival.

While the five foolish maidens were in a state of unrest, worried if they had enough oil in their lamps to greet the bridegroom, said the Prelate. The Prelate concluded by reiterating the importance of our spiritual preparedness and always maintaining an upstanding character.

At the conclusion of the service, the Prelate blessed the ten young girls, students of St. Mary’s Church Sunday School who participated in the service representing the maidens, and presented them with a prayer book.
