On the Feast of St. George the Commander Divine Liturgy, Granting of Flower Cope, Blessing of Water with New Holy Muron and Blessing of Madagh at the Armenian Apostolic Church of North Hollywood

On Friday, September 23, 2022, on the Feast of St. George the Commander, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Armenian Apostolic Church of North Hollywood. The Prelate also blessed the water with the new Holy Muron and under the blessing of H.H. Aram I., Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, granted Rev. Fr. Arsen Kassabian the black flower cope. In attendance were clergy, delegates, donors and the faithful.

In his remarks, Bishop Donoyan congratulated the Armenian Apostolic Church of North Hollywood parish and stated; “We give thanks to God that the difficulties of life cannot depress us in our faith, because our strength does not come from the authorities of this world, rather it comes from the supreme authority, God Himself.” Thereafter, referring to the feast of the day, he added; “Through the Divine Liturgy, we pray, believe and fervently beseech God to grant us the strength of St. George, so that we may put aside our self-made idols: money, materialism, arrogance, and all the man-made glories, and in return we say: ‘You do not belong to us, we will not belong to you,’ and let us worship the one and only truth, God.”

After the granting of the Flower cope ceremony, Bishop Donoyan congratulated Fr. Kassabian and his family, the Board of Trustees and all those who were present during the ceremony. Following the Divine Liturgy, the Prelate blessed the madagh.

A luncheon was held afterwards.
