Prayers for Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry and Artsakh on Green Sunday

On Sunday, April 10, 2016, prayers for Armenian Bone Marrow Donor registry members and patients were offered during Divine Liturgy in all Prelacy Churches by the request of the ABMDR Board and by the ordinance of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, who presided over the service at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena. ABMDR President, Dr. Frieda Jordan, and members Dr. Vergine Madelian and Ms. Carmen Lukassian were in attendance.

Prior to delivering the sermon, the Prelate greeted the ABMDR members and parish community, noting that special prayers would be offered in all Prelacy churches on that day for the organization’s members and patients, and also for the safety and security of Artsakh.

In his sermon, the Prelate spoke of the message of Green Sunday, also called Sunday of the World Church, which commemorates the establishment of the Christian Church and brings the message of spiritual awakening, renewal, and new life. He tied in the message of Green Sunday to the day’s Gospel reading on new birth from John 2:23-3:12, in which Jesus speaks to the Jewish ruler Nicodemus about being born again in order to see the kingdom of God. When we love our Lord Jesus Christ with a pure and sincere heart and welcome Him to dwell in our hearts, only then can we attain spiritual renewal and rebirth and the new life promised by Him, stated the Prelate.

His Eminence then highlighted the vital mission of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, praising the humanitarian and God-pleasing service of its dedicated members. Referencing the message of Green Sunday, of spiritual rebirth by loving God and loving and helping one another, the Prelate lauded the work of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry as a beautiful manifestation of God’s love.

The Prelate thereafter led a prayer for the sick, beseeching the Lord to grant the gift of healing and life to all those under the care of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

At the conclusion of requiem service Dr. Frieda Jordan was invited to convey her remarks, which she began by thanking the Prelate for his staunch support since the establishment of the ABMDR in 1999. Dr. Jordan also spoke to the faithful about the organization’s life-saving mission and how they can help save a life by joining the registry.
