His Eminence was joined by Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan, Vicar General, Archpriest Fr. Khoren Habeshian, Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian, and Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian. Among the guests in attendance were Executive Council member Mrs. Elo Boyajian, wives of Executive Council members, Prelacy sponsors, ARS and parishes’ Ladies Guilds members.

Ladies Auxiliary member Mrs. Maral Keledjian welcomed the guests and briefly touched on the importance of Great Lent as a time of self-examination and strengthening of faith. Afterward, the Prelate and clergy conducted a brief Sunrise Service. Mrs. Keledjian then once again spoke about Lent, citing the writings of our church fathers on the topic. The Prelate delivered the invocation, and during lunch guests enjoyed traditional music on the kanun and vocal selections by Nektarine Chilyan as well as music by flutist Hagop Safarian.

The day’s keynote speaker, Fr. Torkom, highlighted the significance of Great Lent stating, “We must not focus solely on food and drink, rather on the message of sacrifice. Lent carried out with this purpose and understanding will lead to spiritual growth and strength of will. We are invited to view and fulfill Lent in this manner.”

The Prelate delivered the closing message, in which he commended the hard work of the Ladies Auxiliary members and the guests for their enduring moral and financial support. His Eminence stressed the importance of prayer alongside fasting during Lent, which must find expression in our interactions with our fellow man and be reflected through balance and discipline of our body, mind, spirit, and speech.

Guests continued to enjoy the afternoon and roused by the festive atmosphere made donations throughout the event.
