Prelate Attends Luncheon in Honor of Maronite Patriarch


On Monday, July 4, 2016, a luncheon was held in honor of His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Al-Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, who recently embarked on a U.S. tour which will encompass visits to several parishes throughout the country. H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian attended the luncheon, which was hosted by the Consul General of Lebanon in Los Angeles Johnny Ibrahim and his wife Maya, and conveyed the greetings and well wishes of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I and of the Prelacy family.

Consul General Ibrahim thanked the Patriarch for the honor of hosting the luncheon, thanked the guests for their attendance on the Independence Day holiday, and spoke about the strong bond of the Lebanese people with their homeland.

In his message, His Beatitude conveyed his blessings to the guests and thanked all for the warm welcome. In light of the Independence Day holiday, His Beatitude expressed hope for peace and prosperity for Lebanon and for an end to the conflict in the Middle East.

Remarks were also conveyed by various diplomats and dignitaries. In his message, H.E. Elias Zaidan, Bishop of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon, welcomed His Beatitude, thanked all for their attendance, and spoke highly of the strong ties and friendly relations between the various churches and peoples in the Los Angeles community.
