Prelate Presides over Mid-Lent Sunrise Service at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena and Chamlian School Luncheon

Wednesday, March 27, 2019 marked the midpoint of Great Lent. On this day, H.E. Archbishop Mousheh Mardirossian, Prelate, presided over Sunrise service and delivered his message at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena. Kindergarten students from Levon and Hasmig Tavlian School attended the service accompanied by their teachers and parents.

By the request of the students, the Prelate spoke to them about Easter traditions including the coloring of eggs, which greatly enthused the children. His Eminence encouraged the youth to be good students and good children, and invited them to celebrate Easter with great joy because Easter is the triumph of goodness and a victorious day for God’s faithful children. Speaking to the faithful on mid-Lent, the Prelate stated that the day is a good opportunity to ask ourselves if we have been faithful in our Lenten journey thus far, to encourage and strengthen one another to do even better in the second half of Great Lent and emerge spiritually renewed and nourished. Let us also remember to continue to be good, to speak, think, and do that which is good and strive to emulate God in order to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with a triumphant spirit and luminous faith.

In the afternoon, the Prelate attended Vahan and Anoush Chamlian School’s mid-Lent luncheon at Carousel restaurant. Vana Boyajian delivered welcoming remarks in which she touched on the meaning of mid-Lent. Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian in her remarks thanked the Prelate for his continuous encouragement as well as the sponsors and friends for their support.

The Prelate greeted the guests and, in particular, the parents who lend their valuable support to all of the School’s endeavors. His Eminence spoke on mid-Lent as an invitation for self-examination, to consider if we have been faithful in our promises made at the start of Great Lent, if we are on the right path to renewal of our faith, if we are heeding Christ’s commandments to live a God-pleasing life, distancing ourselves from the negative and focusing on cleansing and preparing our bodies and spirits to welcome the resurrection of Christ which is a new beginning for all.

The luncheon continued with entertainment.
