– REQUIEM FOR ARS MEMBERS, VICTIMS OF THE SUMGAIT POGROMS, AND ARTSAKH MARTYRS
On February 25, 2018, the third Sunday of Great Lent, Sunday of the Prodigal Son, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will preside over Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at Holy Cross Cathedral in Montebello.
Following the service, the Prelate will bless and rededicate the renovated Cathedral and consecrate mosaic murals on the Cathedral’s north and south walls. Afterward, His Eminence will conduct the blessing and inauguration of the Archbishop Sumbat Lapajian Library/Museum.
By the ordinance of the Prelate and by the request of the Armenian Relief Society Western Region Executive, on this day requiem prayers will be offered in all Prelacy Churches for the souls of departed ARS members. On the 30th anniversary of the Sumgait pogroms, prayers will be offered also for the souls of the innocent Armenians killed by the Azeris, as well as for the martyrs who gave their lives in defense of Artsakh.
