Mr. Ghoogasian welcomed the Prelate, and in his message highlighted Mesrobian School’s national mission and the students’ commitment to upholding our heritage. Students presented a program of remarks, recitations, and songs, a program which exemplified the School’s commitment to the religious and national instruction of our youth.

The Prelate conveyed his blessings and closing message. His Eminence commended the students’ performances as well as the allegiance of the alumni, wishing that current students also maintain that same bond upon their graduation.

The Prelate commended Mr. Badalian for his beautiful mural, and speaking of the hallowed legacy of the “father” of Armenian letters, stressed, “Armenian children and youth must remain faithful to that legacy by mastering the Armenian language, reading Armenian books, and preserving our heritage at all costs. Citing the words of Silva Gaboudigian’s “A word to my son,” which was recited by Alik Haroutiunian, His Eminence lauded the unmatched role and influence of mothers in the lives of their children and the utmost importance of preserving our language, in the poet’s words, “Should you forsake your own mother, never forget your mother tongue.”

The program concluded with collective prayer and “Cilicia.” Students received posters bearing William Saroyan’s famous saying from the Prelacy.

Afterward, His Eminence visited Kindergarten and Elementary classrooms and conveyed his blessings to the young students.

A lunch hosted by the administration followed.
