On Thursday, October 11, 2018, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, paid a visit to Armenian Mesrobian School to convey his blessings and message to the students on the occasion of the new academic year and Armenian Culture Month. The Prelate, accompanied by Holy Cross Cathedral Dean, Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, and Pastor, Rev. Fr. Ashod Kambourian, was greeted by Principal, Mr. David Ghoogasian, Ron Goharik Gabriel Pre-School Director, Mrs. Angin Iskajyan, and faculty. Chairlady and members of Holy Cross Cathedral’s Board of Trustees, representatives of the ARF “Tro”Gomideh and ARS “Nayiri” Chapter, School Board and Parent Faculty Club members were present.
The visit began at the Early Childhood Development Center where Kindergarten students welcomed the Prelate with the traditional salt and bread. His Eminence had an intimate dialogue with the young students and blessed them.
Next, the Prelate visited the elementary grade classrooms where a question and answer session took place on the legacy of our Holy Translators.
The visit continued in the courtyard where 6th to 12th grade students had gathered in front of the statue of St. Mesrob Mashdots to greet the Prelate and present a cultural program. Ani Khachigian spoke on behalf of the Student Council and Mary Javaherian recited a poem. The Principal thanked the Prelate for his visit and invited him to deliver his message.
His Eminence gave thanks for the opportunity to once again visit the school which bears the name of St. Mesrob Mashdots coinciding with Armenian Culture Month and the eve of the Feast of the Holy Translators. Citing from one of Jacques Hagopian’s book of poems on the previous value of Armenian books, the Prelate stated that the originators of our culture made great sacrifices to cement our national identity, and as Jesus set the foundation for the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin with His golden hammer, gracing us with the Light of our Christian faith, so too St. Mesrob Mashdots, St. Sahag Bartev and their students brought the light of our culture to Armenia. Thus, he urged the students to uphold the legacy of our Holy Translators throughout their lives.
