On Saturday, March 12, 2016, over twenty five Sunday School teachers, accompanied by their local pastors, gathered at the Prelacy for a seminar presided by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate.
The day began with Sunrise Service at “St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen” Chapel, which included a spiritual meditation by Mrs. Madlen Tatoian, on “The Year of Service” proclamation of His Holiness Aram I.
Participants then gathered at “Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian” Hall for the seminar, which began with welcoming remarks by Sunday School Board Co-Chair Mr. Hagop Tchagaspanian.
Mr. Shant Kenderian spoke about “Camp Shining Light,” organized annually by Holy Cross Cathedral of Montebello, and encouraged Sunday School students to attend the week-long camp which will take place during the week of July 10-16.
After the lunch break, Religious Council Chair Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian presented a lecture on “Service and the Sunday School,” focusing on the importance of the Sunday School being the epicenter of “service preparation”. Deacon Khatchig Shannakian was then invited to read the “Year of Service” Pontifical Message, after which the teachers were divided into two groups for a workshop. Guided by the message of His Holiness, the teachers were tasked with initiating means to prepare and inspire students for a life of service.
The Prelate delivered the closing remarks, commending the Sunday School Board and teachers for their dedicated service to our church and youth and urging them to continue their spiritual service and mission with tireless resolve.
The seminar came to a close with the benediction by the Prelate.
