PRELATE TO PRESIDE OVER DIVINE LITURGY AT ST. SARKIS CHURCH IN PASADENA

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, will preside over Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at St. Sarkis Church in Pasadena.

DIVINE LITURGY AND LUNCHEON TO BE HELD ON THE FEAST OF ASCENSION

On Thursday, May 25, 2017, the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ will be celebrated within the Western Prelacy with Divine Liturgy and the traditional luncheon organized by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale presided by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, and with the participation of Prelacy clergy members. Very Rev. Fr. Torkom Donoyan will celebrate Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon.

The luncheon will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Brandview Ballroom in Glendale (111 E. Harvard St.), hosted by Mrs. Silva Tchakmakjian.

PRELACY CHOIR PARTICIPATES IN 10TH ANNUAL ORTHODOX DAY OF PRAISE

DayofPraise2On Saturday, May 13, 2017, the 10th annual Orthodox Day of Praise was held under the auspices of H.G. Bishop Serapion at St. Peter and St. Paul Coptic Orthodox Church in Santa Monica. The annual event brings together members of the Oriental and Eastern Orthodox Churches for a day of fellowship, praise, and celebration of shared faith.

The day began with Divine Liturgy, followed by a meet and greet, after which guests enjoyed an agape brunch. The program of hymns and praises followed.

By the directive of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, the Western Prelacy “Lousavorich” Choir, under the direction of Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, once again participated in this annual event, presenting three hymns.

Prior to presenting the hymns, on behalf of the Prelate and our Prelacy family, choir member Karekin Kirazian expressed condolences to the Coptic Orthodox community on behalf of the Armenian community for the recent church bombings in Egypt, and stated that they were dedicating one of the hymns, “Horjam,” to the memory of the victims.

ARMENIAN AMERICAN MEDICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL GALA

MedicalSociety2On Saturday, May 13, the 32nd anniversary gala of the Armenian American Medical Society was held at the Globe Theatre in Universal City under the motto “Building on our Legacy.” This year, the organization honored Prof. Daniel Stamboulian, Mr. Mike Sarian, Mr. Vahe Karapetian, and Mr. Bared Maronian for their contributions to the field of medicine and to mankind in general.

Archpriest Fr. Nareg Pehlivanian attended, delivered the invocation, and read the Prelate’s congratulatory message addressed to the Board members, sponsors, and friends of the Armenian American Medical Society. Referencing the evening’s motto, His Eminence stated, “Indeed the Armenian American Medical Society has built a worthy legacy. You have touched the lives of countless individuals, who no doubt are indebted to you as we all are, and we are confident that you will continue to serve with the same conviction and devotion for decades to come.” The Prelate wished continued successes to the organization’s members in their mission to give hope for a better quality of life for our brothers and sisters locally and in our homeland.
