PRELATE TO PRESIDE OVER DIVINE LITURGY AT
ST. GARABED CHURCH IN HOLLYWOOD

HollywoodChurchOn Sunday, October 6, the Prelate will preside over Divine Liturgy at St. Garabed Church in Hollywood.

As previously reported,  by the ordinance of the Prelate and the decision of the Religious and Executive Councils, Archpriest Fr. Hrant Yeretzian was recently appointed the second pastor of St. Garabed Church, to serve alongside Parish Pastor, Archpriest Fr. Vicken Vassilian.  Fr. Hrant will celebrate his first Divine Liturgy at St. Garabed on Sunday, October 6.

During the service, the Prelate will formally welcome Fr. Hrant and introduce him to the parish community.

EVENING SERVICE AT ST. GARABED CHURCH
ON THE EVE OF THE FEAST OF THE HOLY TRANSLATORS

HolyTranslatorsOn Saturday, October 12, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Translators, which is regarded as one of the great Feasts.  The Feast is a celebration of the invention of the Armenian alphabet, of the alphabet’s inventor St. Mesrob Mashdots, Catholicos Sahak, King Vramshabouh, and the culture brought forth through the work of a host of translators.

Eve of the Feast service will be held on Friday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Garabed Church, presided over by the Prelate, and with the participation of clergy members.

On the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Translators, it has become a tradition within our Prelacy to invite Sunday School directors and teachers to a seminar to review the curriculum and plan the activities of the coming school year.  This year’s conference will be held on Saturday, October 12th, at the Prelacy “Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian” Hall, under the auspices of the Prelate and organized by the Sunday School Board. It will feature lectures, presentations, and the studying of hymns, and will conclude with the Prelate’s message. Evening service will follow at 5:00 p.m.

PRELACY PARTICIPATION IN SHERIFF’S
MULTI-FAITH CLERGY COUNCIL MEETING

Sheriff'sMeetingSeptEach year, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department hosts a Community Day, with the purpose of providing necessities such as food, clothing, health care services, employment opportunities, and other resources to the less fortunate.  Next year’s Community Day will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014.

In preparation for Community Day 2014, On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, the Sheriff’s Multi-Faith Clergy Council was invited for a dinner meeting at the H.O.P.E. For Life Foundation, hosted by the Foundation’s Chairman and Founder, Bishop Edward Turner.

Chaplain Rafi Garabedian participated in the meeting, representing the Western Prelacy.

The next dinner meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
