On Sunday, April 30, 2023, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, celebrated Divine Liturgy and blessed new St. George the Commander image at Forty Martyrs Armenian Church in Orange County. The new painting was dedicated by the Ladies Guild of Forty Martyrs Armenian Church.
Rev. Fr. Karekin Bedourian, Pastor of Forty Martyrs Armenian Church and Archpriest Fr. Hrant Yeretsian assisted on the Altar. In attendance were delegates, representatives of community organizations, benefactors and the faithful.
During his sermon, the Prelate emphasized on the day’s celebration (Red Sunday,) and expounded on the faith and life of St. George the Commander. Bishop Donoyan reminded everyone that Christianity was not spread around the world by easy means, but the Christians of the early church accepted the doctrine of Christ at the cost of martyrdom. At the conclusion of the sermon, the Prelate congratulated Fr. Bedourian on his service to the church and upon his academic achievements, earning a Doctorate in Pastoral Ministry, and presented him with a memento.
