Episcopal Divine Liturgy On The Occasion Of The Feast Of Forty Martyrs

– “PRINCE OF CILICIA” MEDAL PRESENTED TO MR. ARIS ISTAMBOULIAN

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, on the occasion of the Feast of Forty Martyrs, celebrated Divine Liturgy at Forty Martyrs Armenian Church in Orange County and blessed the madagh. Rev. Fr. Karekin Bedourian, Pastor of Forty Martyrs Armenian Church assisted on the Altar. In attendance were members of the Executive Council, delegates, representatives of community organizations and the faithful.

During the Divine Liturgy, on behalf of H.H. Aram I., Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, Bishop Donoyan presented the “Prince of Cilicia” medal to Mr. & Mrs. Aris and Angela Istamboulian, who donated 2 million dollars towards the new middle-school at Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School, to perpetuate the memory of their parents Mr. & Mrs. Vosgan and Eliz Istamboulian.

During his sermon, the Bishop instructed the faithful to be more steadfast in their faith, following the example of the Forty Martyrs, he also referred story of the Sunday of the Great Judge and called for more diligence in our parish, national and community life.

Following the Liturgy, the faithful were directed to the “Ghoogasian Hall,” where a luncheon was held. In attendance were, Mrs. Ani Shahinian-Sarkissian, Principal of Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School, members of the educational body and students who performed a short program.

In conclusion, the Prelate highly commended the faithful for their loyalty and dedication to the Forty Martyrs Armenian Church in Orange County.
