On the morning of Sunday, September 10, 2023, with the direction of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate of the Western Prelacy, H.H. Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia’s Pontificate Encyclical on the 850th anniversary of the passing of the Catholicos, theologist, intellectual, writer, musician, national figure, and pioneer St. Nerses the Gracious (Shnorhali) was read during the Divine Liturgy within all Western Prelacy churches.
On this occasion, H.G. Bishop Donoyan presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church in Hollywood and read Catholicos Aram I message.
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church in Pasadena and H.E. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale. H.H. Aram I, Catholicos’ message was also read by reverends and priests in all Western Prelacy churches.
The Western Prelacy has organized a special event dedicated to the 850th anniversary of the passing of the Catholicos St. Nerses the Gracious (Shnorhali), which will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, 7:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale. The event will include a lecture and performances dedicated to the life and legacy of St. Nerses the Gracious (Shnorhali).
