In accordance with the directive of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, the Western Prelacy of the United States has consistently offered its support to Armenian communities in the Middle East, among which the support to the Armenian Prelacy of Peria (Aleppo, Syria) that has resulted in the successful implementation of its multiple projects.
On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Mr. Hratch Hagopian, Central Executive Council member of the Armenian Prelacy of Peria, on behalf of H.G. Bishop Magar Ashekian, Prelate of Peria (Syria), Executive and Religious Councils of Peria, and local organizations visited the Western Prelacy and met with H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate of the Western Prelacy. During the meeting, Mr. Hagopian, expressed appreciation and extended warm wishes for the holiday season, both personally and on behalf of the Armenian Prelacy of Peria, and requested that the Western Prelacy of the United States continue its support of Syrian Armenians and the Armenian Prelacy of Peria.
H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan thanked Mr. Hagopian for his visit, and on behalf of the Executive and Religious Councils of the Western Prelacy, he vowed to continue to follow the directive of His Holiness Aram I, reassuring Mr. Hagopian that the Western Prelacy is committed to supporting Syrian Armenians and the Armenian Prelacy of Peria.
During the current year, the Western Prelacy of the United States, both as an organization and through benefactors, such as Mr. Mher Der Ohanessian, Vice-Chairperson of the Western Prelacy’s Executive Council, in honor of his late wife, Mrs. Satig Der Ohanessian, on various occasions has made allocations and provided support to the Armenian Prelacy of Peria (Aleppo) and to Karen Jeppe Armenian College of Aleppo.
