On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, presided over the Prelacy Ladies Auxiliary guild’s annual Lenten luncheon which was held at Legacy Banquet Hall in Glendale. In attendance were members of the clergy; Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian, Rev. Fr. Boghos Baltayan and Rev. Fr. Ghevont Kirazian, member of the Executive Board Mrs. Dzovig Zetlian and over 120 guests. The welcoming remarks were delivered by Mrs. Vartouhi Avedikian, who then invited the Prelate and clergy to perform a sunrise service.
During the luncheon, Miss. Seta Krikorian spoke about “Year of Diaspora and the Armenian woman.” She brought to light many important aspects and characteristics of the Armenian woman in the Diaspora, stating; “An Armenian woman, whether she is a mother, a sister, a wife or a daughter, has always been highly regarded in the life of the Armenian people, mostly thanks to the Armenian Church, which has always been an irreplaceable value for Armenian women.” Adding, “”As yesterday, so today, the Armenian woman is in the life of all of us and remains the delicate and humble creature who carries the moral and spiritual values of the Armenian nation, the first mother educator of the Armenian generations and the Armenian woman standing on an equal footing with man.”
The Prelate highly praised the diligent work of the Ladies Auxiliary and the inspiring presence of all the Armenian women who filled the hall. Regarding the success of the Prelacy’s programs, he added: “Benefactors are those who enrich the treasury of the Armenians with their intellectual abilities and give from the fruit of their souls in the name of the nation and the motherland.”
The prelate concluded by commending Miss Seta Krikorian, towards her special devotion to the Armenian language and literature, and on behalf of the Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Vania Babikian presented a beautiful bouquet to her.
