On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, welcomed Mr. & Mrs. Varant and Hoori Melkonian, together with Mrs. Angel Melkonian, who bring their unconditional support to our communities in Armenia, Artsakh, Diaspora, and especially to the projects of the Western Prelacy. The couple visited the Western Prelacy to ask for the blessing of the Prelate, to become the main benefactor of the new Armenian Apostolic Church in Crescenta Valley.
Bishop Donoyan highly commended this monumental gesture and sponsorship, adding to the numerous contributions which the couple has made throughout the life of the Western Prelacy.
In his remarks, the Prelate mentioned that Mr. Varant Melkonian, recipient of the “Prince of Cilicia” medal, and his wife Hoori, “are a humble presence in our community, and are always ready to show their unreserved support to all those initiatives that are called to flourish the nation and the motherland and the Western Prelacy.”
In the course of the meeting, an intimate conversation took place, during which Melkonian couple expressed their joy for the recent achievements of the Western Prelacy, and on this occasion he congratulated the Bishop, and reaffirmed their course with renewed faith to always stand by the nation-building and church-building activities of the Western Prelacy.
The Bishop blessed the philanthropic couple and prayed for the health, well-being and further multiplication of God-pleasing deeds of all members of the Melkonian family, characterizing the gifted couple as “valiant philanthropists.”
