On the morning of Friday, October 30, 2020, a roundtable organized by Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Chair, took place at the Arboretum, in Pasadena, with the United States National Security Advisor Mr. Robert O’Brien. In attendance were Senator Mike Lee, Armenian religious and community leaders of Los Angeles. H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, also attended the meeting. Rev. Fr. Movses Shannakian also accompanied the prelate.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the dignitaries, which was followed by an open discussion. In his remarks, the prelate stressed the importance of implementing sanctions on the Turkish government, stating, “I welcome this meeting – and value your personal engagement. But it pains me to say what I must say on behalf of the Armenian faithful: Despite this Administration’s noble commitment to saving at-risk Christians, Armenians – the world’s first Christians – have fallen outside the protection of our great nation. This is true with regard to the Armenian Genocide and it is, sadly true today regarding Artsakh. We cannot – we must never – wash our hands of innocent Armenian blood.”
