The Armenian Church considers it essential to assist individuals facing difficult circumstances as an integral aspect of its mission. The Religious Council of the Western Prelacy, under the leadership of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate of the Western Prelacy, on different occasions organizes various initiatives aimed at offering Armenian inmates spiritual guidance.
Under the guidance of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, priests from the Western Prelacy, led by Chaplain Raffi Garabedian, visit prisons to meet and offer spiritual guidance to Armenian inmates.
With the initiative of H.G. Bishop Donoyan, on November 21, 2023, the Western Prelacy published a distinctive prayer book titled “The Prisoner’s Prayer Book.” This prayer book was made possible by the sponsorship and support of Ms. Hasmig Hovaguimian. The bilingual prayer book encompasses a compilation of ancient and contemporary, newly written, prayers aimed at providing solace to Armenian inmates and promoting personal growth and positivity for individuals encountering challenging situations whether by choice or circumstance.
