On the occasion of The Feast of the Holy Translators, H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate, met with students of V. and A. Chamlian Armenian Club on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. The students had walked to the Western Prelacy from their school, along with Principal Dr. Talin Kargodorian and teachers, to present an artistic program celebrating Armenian Cultural month, which is observed in October in memory of the Holy Translators who created the Golden Age of Armenian Literature in the fifth century.
The Prelate applauded the level of their performance that included poetry reading, Armenian dance, piano performance, and a heartfelt message on the importance of Armenian culture. He specifically praised their delivery of the material and impeccable pronunciation of Armenian. The Prelate asked students to consistently amaze those around them by maintaining the purity of their mother tongue, and to always respect Armenian national, religious and cultural values.
Following the performance, students gifted an original Artsakh themed t-shirt to the Prelate, which they had designed, and conveyed their well wishes to H.G. Bishop Donoyan, Prelate.
The Prelate presented students copies of Jacques Hagopian’s book, “Kooynzkooyn,” and wooden cross necklaces from the Catholicosate. In closing, he thanked students for their initiative to celebrate Armenian culture at the Western Prelacy and he urged them to visit often.
