On the eve of Tuesday, February 13, 2024, all Western Preacy Churches celebrated the feast of the Presentation of our Lord to the Temple “Dyarnentarach” with a special evening service.
Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian, representative of H.G. Bishop Torkom Donoyan, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, presided over the special evening service at St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Glendale. The service was attended by clergy, deacons, HMEM Regional Executive members, scouts, and worshipers.
At the conclusion of the church service, parents brought forth their children to present them to the altar in the example of Mary presenting Christ to the Temple, guided by church dean and pastor, to commemorate the Holy Mother of God presenting Jesus to the Temple forty days after his birth.
After the special service, Very Rev. Fr. Zareh Sarkissian, with the singing of hymns and nationalistic and traditional songs, led the traditional lighting of the bonfire in the church courtyard to commemorate the feast of our Lord’s Presentation to the Temple, known as “Dyarnentarach”.
