On Monday, August 31, 2026, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed members of the newly elected Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Regional Executive for an introductory visit at the Western Prelacy. Seven members of the nine-member Executive, led by Chairperson Maggie Sarkuni, participated in the meeting.
Also present were Executive Council Chairman Mr. Vahe Hovaguimian and members Mrs. Dzovig Zetlian and Mr. Jack Hadjinian.
Following a warm welcome by Archbishop Khacherian and introductions, the ARS representatives presented an overview of the newly elected Executive’s current and upcoming programs and initiatives. The discussion addressed challenges facing the organization, its financial position, and ongoing efforts to strengthen and reorganize its operations. The representatives also provided updates on membership, chapter activities, and the work of the Regional Executive office. In addition, they shared the welcome news of the establishment of a second ARS chapter in Pasadena, named the “Amaras” Chapter.
Archbishop Khacherian commended the ARS for its longstanding service to the Armenian people and its extensive humanitarian work in Armenia and Armenian communities throughout the Diaspora. He emphasized the important role the organization continues to play throughout the Western United States and recognized the dedication of its members in advancing its mission.
On behalf of the Executive Council, the Prelate expressed continued support for the programs and initiatives of the ARS. He encouraged the newly elected Regional Executive to address the challenges before them through collective effort, sound judgment, and a strong spirit of cooperation, while remaining determined and committed in carrying out the organization’s mission.
The members of the ARS Regional Executive expressed their appreciation to Archbishop Khacherian for his warm welcome and words of encouragement and presented him with a floral arrangement as a token of their appreciation.
The meeting concluded with a prayer by Archbishop Khacherian.
