Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Councilmember Adrin Nazarian, who represents a key district of the Armenian community. Other city officials and prominent Armenian community leaders were also in attendance.

In his opening remarks, Council President Harris-Dawson extended a warm welcome to His Holiness, expressing profound respect for his lifelong dedication to the Armenian Church and people. Councilmember Nazarian followed, lauding the Catholicos’s extensive spiritual, educational, and humanitarian work worldwide before inviting him to address the council.

In his address, His Holiness expressed heartfelt gratitude to the “City of Angels” for its inclusive spirit and for being a home to one of the largest and most dynamic Armenian communities in the diaspora. He praised the fundamental role of municipal government in serving all people and ensuring the well-being and harmony of a diverse populace.

“The Armenian community has found a vibrant home in Los Angeles, and in turn, has enriched the city’s civic, economic, and cultural fabric,” stated His Holiness. “Their achievements are a direct reflection of the Armenian values of hard work, deep faith, and a strong sense of community responsibility.”

Looking to the future, His Holiness offered special encouragement to young civic leaders, underscoring that youth engagement is critical for a thriving society.

Notably, the historic City Council session was broadcast live on several local media outlets.
