On Tuesday, October 1, 2024. H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed to the Western Prelacy a visit from Principal of Armenian Mesrobian School, School Board members led by the School Board Chairperson, Mr. Chris Guldjian, and Ms. Angin Iskajyan, Director of Ron and Goharik Gabriel Preschool. Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Pastor of Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Cathedral of Montebello, was also present during the visit.
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian greeted the visiting delegation and in his remarks highlighted the significance of Christian education in Prelacy Armenian Schools, stressing the importance of nurturing students of Armenian schools by instilling in them God’s heavenly teaching’s from a young age.
In his remarks, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian emphasized, “Education will also be realized through the publication of modern religious textbooks.” The Prelate stressed the need to entrust the preparation of new religious textbooks to knowledgeable and experienced professionals and highlighted the importance of teaching fundamental Christian principles to children, adolescents and the youth using contemporary and innovative methods. H.E. Archbishop Khacherian shared “since early times, Christian education of the Armenian Church has been an integral and inseparable part of Armenian education. Armenian and Christian education complement one another and have been fostered is Prelacy Schools. Unfortunately, in modern times, the Christian education component of the Armenian Church is not given enough importance and has veered from being an integral part of the Armenian education system.” Continuing this thoughts, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian expressed his appreciation towards the newly appointed Principal of Armenian Mesrobian School, a young woman with a strong Christian faith, and a responsible person ready to lead Armenian Mesrobian School in line with the mission and values of the Armenian Church.
At the conclusion of the intimate meeting, the visitors thanked H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, for closely following the preservation and development of young boys and girls. The representatives also provided updates on the state of Armenian Mesrobian School and Ron and Goharik Gabriel Preschool, including their current projects and activities. Additionally, they shared that the construction of their new modern gymnasium is nearing completion within the next two months.
