On Monday morning, October 20, 2025, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, welcomed Rev. Dr. Haroutune Selimian, President of the Armenian Evangelical Community of Syria, and Rev. Henrik Shahnazarian, representative of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues affecting the Armenian community.

At the start of the meeting, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian congratulated Rev. Selimian on his recent appointment as Chair of the International Congregation Fellowship and heard his report on the difficult conditions and challenges facing the Armenian community in Syria.

Their discussion expanded to the broader conditions in Middle Eastern countries and the serious hardships confronting Armenian communities there, including concerns related to security, the economy, healthcare, education, and social welfare. They emphasized that Aleppo’s Armenians are enduring a crisis of survival and are in urgent need of support.

Rev. Selimian highlighted the importance of unity among Aleppo’s three Armenian communities, noting that “through this solidarity, we can better serve the children of our community and, as much as possible, ease the hardships they face.”

It should be noted that Rev. Selimian is visiting Los Angeles to take part in the AMAA anniversary celebration. The meeting concluded with a conversation between the spiritual leaders on various challenges confronting Armenian Christians today.
