On the afternoon of Thursday, May 2, 2024, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, alongside H.E. Archbishop Torkom Donoyan, convened separate meetings with the Executive and Religious Councils of the Western Prelacy.
The meetings included discussions about the newly elected Prelate’s first Divine Liturgy, the arrangement of meetings with community leaders and local parishes, as well as other matters.
Later in the day, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian convened a meeting with clergy members of the Western United States Southern, and Central California.
On this occasion, H.E. Archbishop Torkom Donoyan, on behalf of the Religious Council, extended a warm welcome to H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, his new mission as Prelate, and his commitment to the Western Prelacy. H.E. Archbishop Donoyan, conveyed his optimism that with the unconditional support of all stakeholders, the recently elected Prelate, with his unique perspective and expertise, will brighten, enhance, and propel the Western Prelacy to new successes.
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian gratefully accepted the warm fraternal greetings from H.E. Archbishop Torkom Donoyan and expressed his satisfaction at the prospect of leading the Western Prelacy, which boasts a rich tradition and is currently flourishing. H.E. Archbishop Khacherian attributed the recent successes of the Western Prelacy to the leadership of H.E. Archbishop Torkom Donoyan, who served as both Vicar General and Prelate of the Western Prelacy for nearly seven years. H.E. Archbishop Khacherian praised the outstanding and commendable work of H.E. Archbishop Donoyan within the region, acknowledging that H.E. Archbishop Donoyan was elected and served under the most challenging circumstances affecting the world and the Armenian nation.
In his message, the newly elected Prelate conveyed his appreciation for the opportunity to convene with Spiritual Fathers and stressed the importance of their mission, emphasizing that the clergy serve as the direct link to the parishes, which are essential components of the Western Prelacy. Highlighting the dedication of the clergy in serving our people and communities, H.E. Archbishop Khacherian also noted the significance of fostering mutual trust and unwavering collaboration to further advance the mission of the Armenian Church, ensure the growth of the Western Prelacy, and address the spiritual needs of the Armenian people.
