
On the morning of Saturday, September 28, H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian, Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the United States, delivered his message of blessing during the opening of the online global educational workshops for Armenian Subject Teachers. These workshops are organized by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in collaboration with the Board of Regents of Prelacy Armenian Schools.
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian delivered his opening remarks and provided an analytical analysis indicating that the Western Armenian language, specifically the national identity of Western Armenians, is facing a global threat, which also extends to the language, customs, and culture of Western Armenians as a whole. H.E. Archbishop Khacherian emphasized the significance of promoting and preserving Western Armenian language, stating that “so that through the language the younger generations establish a connection with their national heritage and have a strong sense of their identity.”
H.E. Archbishop Kegham Khacherian expressed gratitude for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s efforts to promote the use of Western Armenian language within Armenian communities worldwide and to safeguard the Western Armenian identity and dialect through innovative and modern approaches, in order to preserve the rich culture and heritage of Western Armenians.
The Armenian Subject Teachers’ global educational workshops aim to offer professional development opportunities to Armenian Subject teachers in the diaspora through a virtual platform in order to enhance the effectiveness of Armenian language instruction in Armenian schools by utilizing modern and innovative teaching methods and resources.
The virtual workshops, which run for two hours, take place twice a month on Saturdays and will continue until June 2025.
